Beautiful content checklist
Simple tips to ensure your website remains beautiful, as you add and manage content.
Images
Where to get images
Professional photography at your clinic premises is the best way to get images. These are unique, represent your business perfectly and there are no copyright issues to worry about.
If that is not available, you can search through the following image services. Most images provided through these are free to use; however do be careful as they may include some paid images among their search results.
- pexels.com
- unsplash.com
Banner images
Banner images are usually placed atop your services, conditions, locations (and other) pages. They are horizontal (landscape) layout.
Your original image should be high resolution, but then be resized and cropped at 1200 pixels wide by 600 pixels high.
Square images
Staff photos and most product photos should all be square format, resized and cropped at 400 X 400 pixels.
Image formats
JPG format generally works best for most photos.
Renaming your images
Giving your images meaningful file names is good for 2 reasons
- Search engines could better determine what your image is about (and this can help with getting your pages ranked better)
- You can search for and find your images easily in the future when you want to use them somewhere on your website.
Here are some examples of well-named images:

- “physiotherapist-thomas-jones.jpg”
- “blog-exercises-for-back-pain.jpg”
Compressing images
Once your image has been resized, cropped and renamed correctly, it is time to compress it. This allows your image to look good on your website, but much smaller file size. This means it will download faster for your visitors! Banner images should aim to be under 200kb, but this is not always possible.
You can use this online service to compress your images.
Uploading your images
Once your image has been resized, cropped and compressed, you can now upload to your website’s media folder. You need to be logged in, to your website’s back-end first. Contact us if you can’t find your login details.
Once logged in, click “Media” menu item, in the left side panel.
You will note that we’ve already set up a number of folders for keeping all your media files (images and more) nicely organised. There are folders for all images, such as “conditions”, “services”, “staff”, “blog” etc. Upload your images to the correct folders; this will make finding your images easy in the future.
You can drag/drop images into different folders to organise them, if you need, without breaking anything.
Content
You need to be logged in, to your website’s back-end first, before you can manage your website content. Contact us if you can’t find your login details.
Data pages
Much of your website content is stored in a special system that helps you to keep organised.
For example, if you want to add or edit one of your services, you would go to the “Data: Services” section. There, you can click on the page you want to edit. You can uset the “Add” button at the top to start a new page. You can also drag/drop the pages if you want to reorder them.
Different types of content will offer different features: Most will allow you to attach a banner image.
General content pages
These can be found in the “Content Pages” section, and generally correlate directly with what you can see in your website’s main navigation menu; such as “Home”, “About us”, “Our team” etc
These of pages typically contain special formatting that your designer at PracticePulse would have locked down, to prevent accidentally beaking the layouts, features and forms.
Most of the content on these pages allow you to edit the basic text; however you would need to contact us for for detailed editing.
